State legislators urge governor to fund
a contract for PCAs

Eighty-two state representatives and 22 state senators recently signed onto a letter asking the governor to negotiate a fair and reasonable union contract for PCAs. This is a clear message from our elected officials that they stand with us in our struggle for a good contract for home care workers in Massachusetts.


Your help is needed to improve the home care system


Thousands of voters are asking Governor Patrick to make quality home care a priority by allocating funding for a home care labor contract that will improve jobs and protect home care services for Massachusetts residents and families. Hundreds of PCAs, consumers, allies rally at State House for quality jobs, quality care

On Tuesday, April 1, Personal Care Attendants joined 1199SEIU members, consumers, allies and elected officials to speak out for better wages, benefits, training options and state funding for a contract that improves PCA jobs as part of 1199SEIU Healthcare Advocacy Day. Over 5,000 signed cards were delivered to the governor's office in support of better home care jobs. Read more...


PCA Bargaining Committee begins contract negotiations


In November, Personal Care Attendants voted overwhelmingly to form a union and make improvements in the PCA system. In December, hundreds of PCAs came out to Bargaining Input Sessions to give their ideas about what they would like to see in a PCA contract. A committee of PCAs from across Massachusetts are now bargaining a contract with members of the PCA Quality Home Care Workforce Council. Read more...
